in the third grade i wrote a poem about how it was raining outside instead of doing my math test. if you can believe it, i did not pass. the next week, however, my teacher asked me to read the poem to the class.

my parents, the mechanical engineers–who did not understand why i did what i did–did their best, too. they sent me to space camp. women’s engineering camp. i was even in a robotics’ club at one point, but was far more interested in why the robot should move instead of how.

as we all know–a good backstory can explain everything.

I LIKE BEING someone WHO STAYS WHEN THERE’S STILL WORK TO DO.

five years volunteering showed me how this industry CAN do and be SO MUCH MORE FOR THE WORLD AROUND US. don’t get me wrong. I like leaning into THE ROLE OF JADED CREATIVE FOR KICKS and catharsis EVERY NOW AND THEN. i’ve simply worked with too many PEOPLE who donated their time and talent for the greater-good to buy that there’s nothing left to do for the even greater greater-good, too.
